Oct. 26, 2001

Honda of America Mfg. has given Bridgestone/Firestone (BFS) Inc.'s Wilson, N.C., plant its Plant Manager's Award for "outstanding commitment to customer service."

Says Dan Smith, assistant vice president and manager of Honda's East Liberty, Ohio, plant: "BFS associates at Wilson implemented enhancements to their processes and operations, almost doubling their production to accommodate (Honda) Civic production demands.

"Today, the Wilson plant meets the production requirements for 100% of the new Civics built at the East Liberty plant, and the Honda of Canada Mfg. plant in Alliston, Ontario, as well."

BFS' Wilson factory can make some 46,000 passenger tires a day at top capacity, according to Modern Tire Dealer estimates.
