Goodyear blimp will help promote census

March 1, 2010

Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. says its fleet of blimps with help get the word out about the 2010 United States Census.

Census forms are expected to show up in mailboxes March 15-17. "To assist that effort, the Goodyear blimps will fly a special message on their electronic signs over sports, entertainment events and public appearances," say Goodyear officials.

The message is slated to run on Goodyear's three U.S.-based blimps: The Spirit of Goodyear, based in Suffield, Ohio, an Akron suburb; The Spirit of America, which is based in Carson, Calif.; and The Spirit of Innovation, which is based in Pompano Beach, Fla.

"Goodyear's work with the Census Bureau literally and figuratively raises the profile of the census and is a much-appreciated public service," says Dwight Dean, U.S. Census Bureau regional director.
