High performance tire shipments grew 6.4% last year, from 27.8 million units to 29.6 million units. Growth in ultra-high performance tire shipments was even more dramatic.
UHP tire shipments increased 14% in 2009, increasing from 19.8 million units to 22.6 million units. In the last five years, domestic UHP shipments have grown some 75%, according to MTD research.
