Kalitta Motorsports team will rely on Champion spark plugs

The three-car Kalitta Motorsports team will rely exclusively on Champion plugs as it begins its quest for points titles in the professional Top Fuel and Funny Car categories beginning this weekend at the Kragen O’Reilly NHRA Nationals in Pomona, Calif.  Champion spark plugs have won more racing championships, in more types of competition, than all other plug brands combined.

Advanced Champion racing spark plugs will help power the 8,000-horsepower Kalitta Air dragsters driven by Doug Kalitta and Dave Grubnic, and the DHL/Kalitta Funny Car driven by Jeff Arend throughout the 23-race Full Throttle season.

“We are pleased that the Kalitta Motorsports team has selected Champion spark plugs to help power their cars in two of the world’s most exciting and challenging racing classes,” said Jeff Richardson, Champion product manager, Federal-Mogul. “Champion racing plugs are engineered to help produce more power and superior performance under even the most brutal operating conditions.”

The Champion brand is hardly new to Kalitta Motorsports – team owner and five-time NHRA World titleholder Connie Kalitta relied on Champion spark plugs for his Top Fuel dragster as far back as the early 1960s, when he gained the nickname “The Bounty Hunter.”
