Direct Tire touts Eco Tire Tote's success

Feb. 3, 2010

Watertown, Mass.-based Direct Tire & Auto Service reports that its Eco Tire Tote pilot program was a success.

Last fall, Direct Tire offered environmentally friendly Eco Tire Tote bags to customers in place of disposable plastic tire bags that are often offered during the annual summer-to-winter tire swap.

Some 10,000 plastic bags were saved from landfills thanks to the program, according to Direct Tire estimates.

"It is often difficult to show your environmental dedication in this business," says Direct Tire President Barry Steinberg. "The Eco Tire Tote allows Direct Tire to point to the tangible action we are taking to help the environment. This was an unexpected and easy way for us to communicate this message and my customers loved the Eco Tire Tote for making their tire swap process that much easier."

The Eco Tire Tote accommodates passenger tire sizes ranging up to 31 inches in diameter.
