Bridgestone introduces Advanced Deflection

Jan. 12, 2010

Bridgestone Americas Agricultural Group has introduced its new Advanced Deflection Design (AD 2) technology for Firestone brand farm tires. The technology allows for greater sidewall flexibility.

"Compared with standard Firestone radials, Firestone tires with AD 2 technology can carry heavier loads at the same pressure or the same load at lower pressures," say Bridgestone officials.

That's important to farmers who operate large, high-horsepower machinery, according to Tom Rodgers, director of marketing for Bridgestone Americas Agricultural Group.

"Tractors continue to increase in size and power," he says. "These larger, higher-horsepower machines require more ballast to put that increased power to the ground.

"Tire performance needs to grow with equipment and the Firestone brand is introducing this new tire technology to meet that need."

Tires with AD 2 technology are manufactured at Bridgestone's farm tire plant in Des Moines, Iowa.

The products meet the North American Tire and Rim Association's Increased Flexion (IF) standard, "the first American-made tractor tires" to achieve that designation, notes Rodgers.
