Alliance: North America will benefit from new plant

Dec. 19, 2014

Alliance Tire Group (ATG) is ramping up production at its new factory in India, and the company expects off-the-road tires from the new plant to arrive in North America within a few months.

"The production from this new factory will aid in meeting the total demand for our products worldwide, but the North American market will be the biggest beneficiary of the new capacity," says Bruce Besancon, vice president of sales and marketing for Alliance Tires Americas Inc.

The $150 million factory is located in in Dahej, in the Indian state of Gujarat. The plant, which will have the capacity to manufacture tires for any of Alliance’s bias, radial and solid lines, is not specializing in any particular line, sector or market.

When the plant is running at full capacity, which is expected in early 2016 after the current ramp-up period, it will employ 1,500 workers. The 115-acre site includes room for expansion as ATG continues to grow. This is ATG’s third factory; it also has manufacturing facilities in Hadera, Israel and Tirunelveli, India.

To mark the opening of the plant, Alliance Tire Americas Inc. President James Clark and members of the ATG board of directors signed the factory’s first tire in a traditional Indian blessing ceremony.

ATG designed and built the facility with state-of-the-art manufacturing and testing equipment, according to Clark. Energy efficiency and zero effluent discharge make the facility environmentally friendly. Its location near ports on Gujarat’s west coast ensure a steady flow of raw materials and reduce shipping time of finished goods, ensuring a fast and steady flow of tires to customers around the world.

ATG employs more than 3,000 people worldwide. It manufactures industrial, agricultural and forestry tires at its plants in Israel and India. The company has R&D facilities in Israel, India, and in the United States. The company’s Alliance, Galaxy and Primex tires are available in more than 120 countries.
