Falken to replace Ohtsu passenger and LT lines with Visa brand

Sept. 5, 2001

Falken Tire Corp. will drop its Ohtsu brand passenger and light truck tire lines Nov. 1 when it starts selling Visa brand passenger and light truck products nationwide.

Previously, Falken only offered Visa on the West Coast.

Visa "will have a more complete line" than Ohtsu, according to Richard Smallwood, Falken's vice president of sales and marketing.

The label's passenger lines will bear the Visa name but its light truck products' sidewalls will simply read High Country A/P, he says.

The Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.-based company will continue to supply Ohtsu brand medium commercial truck tires for "purely customer satisfaction reasons," says Smallwood. Ohtsu medium truck tire dealers "want to keep the name."
