Oct. 27, 2014

Hankook Tire Co. Ltd. has won the international Good Design Award 2014 for its Ventus S1 evo2 tire in the competition’s personal transportation equipment and facilities category.

Hankook says the Ventus S1 evo2 was acknowledged for its asymmetrical tread design, applying the latest design trends in the automotive industry and simultaneously delivering the best tire performance.

“Hankook Tire will continuously improve its cutting-edge technology and design capabilities with the relentless R&D investment, further enhancing our competitiveness as a global leading tire company," says Seung Hwa Suh, vice chairman and CEO of Hankook Tire.

The company says the win makes it the first tire company in Korea to record a grand slam by winning the world’s top four design awards in the same year.

Earlier this year, Hankook won the IF Design Award for its Kinergy 4S product, Red Dot Design Award for its Ventus V12 evo2 tire and Driving Emotion website, and International Design Excellence Award (IDEA) for its Tiltread and eMembrane concept tires.

The company says the Good Design Award is known as the most authoritative and comprehensive design award in Japan. The annual award program is organized by Japan Institute of Design Promotion (JDP) and is considered as one of world’s top four design competitions along with Red Dot Design Award (Germany), IF Design Award (Germany), and IDEA (US).
