Falken Tire earns three Ultra4 National Championships

Oct. 20, 2014

Before a standing room-only crowd throughout the Ultra4 National Championships weekend, Falken Tire, a leader in high performance tires for both off-road and on-road vehicles, came prepared to dominate and did so convincingly, helping to secure three National titles for its teams.

Racing just east of Reno, NV, at the Wild West Motorsports Park, a purpose-built track that combines short course off-road racing with demanding rock crawling paths, Falken had teams podium in each of the three classes in which it competed:  4500 Modified Class; 4600 Stock Class; and 4700 Spec Class.

In the 4500 Mod Class, John Currie and Gerald Lee finished first in their Savvy Off Road/Currie Enterprises JK-R, while Jordan Townsend finished third in his Jeep.  Both vehicles ran on Falken WILDPEAK M/T tires, sized 37x12.50R17. In the 4600 Stock class, VP Racing, with Ben Varozza and Jacob Pacheco, finished second in their Jeep, running WILDPEAK A/T 35X12.50R15.  Finally, in the 4700 Spec Class, Tony Pellegrino, who was driving for Jessi Combs, who suffered a motorcycle accident a few weeks earlier, finished third.  He also was running WILDPEAK M/T 37x12.50R17 tires.

Those drivers crowned National Champions in their respective classes included:  In 4500 Mod Class, John Currie/Gerald Lee took top honors.  Currie also was the 2014 Every Man Challenge Champion.  In 4600 Stock Class, it was Ben Varozza/Jacob Pacheco who were National and Western Champions; and in the 4700 Spec class, both National and Western Champion was Jessi Combs. She is the first woman to win a National Championship in the Ultra4 Series, and to compete at King of the Hammers, the other series managed by Ultra4.

“Overall, this has been an extremely successful year for Falken Tire,” stated Nick Fousekis, Falken’s Director of Motorsports and Event Marketing.  “Falken had the most National Championships of any tire brand competing in this tough off-road series, and we’ve had at least one driver and team podium at every race all season long, proof that the WILDPEAK M/T and A/T tires are tough enough to conquer King of the Hammers and the Ultra 4 competition.  These are the same tires our customers can purchase for their own on- and off-road vehicles.”
