Falken Tire’s Team Brenthel takes 3rd in Bluewater Desert Challenge

Oct. 20, 2014

Team Falken, manufacturer of high performance on- and off-road tires for both cars and trucks, continues to see incredible results from its WILDPEAK tires through demanding off-road races including last weekend’s Best in the Desert (BITD) BlueWater Desert Challenge where Team Brenthel, scored third in its Class 7200 Desert Truck.

Team Brenthel, a long-time partner of Falken, overcame significant obstacles, including a rollover on Saturday and a 30-minute deficit, to score a podium.  With this finish, driver Jordan Brenthel extends his lead in the BITD 7200 Class.  With one more race this season, Brenthel stands to earn another championship for his team and Falken.  The truck runs Falken’s off-the-shelf WILDPEAK A/T tires, sized 35x12.50R15, specially grooved for BITD competition.  These are essentially the same tires consumers can buy at their local tire dealers.

Held along the beautiful Colorado River, the BlueWater Desert Challenge – held over two days – has quickly become an extremely popular event for racers featuring BITD’s Car, Truck and UTV classes running both days for combined results to determine the winners. The unique format pushes competitors to log close to 130 miles of hard-core desert racing over the combined time period. It also allows the racers and teams to make adjustments and fine tune their vehicles for the second day of all-out sprint-style racing.

“Falken has supported Team Brenthel throughout its BITD competition this season, as well as the team’s participation in The Dakar Rally earlier this year,” noted Nick Fousekis, Falken’s Director of Motorsports and Consumer Events.  “Jonathon and Jordan Brenthel’s operation continues to perform well and helps showcase Falken’s WildPeak consumer-oriented products, demonstrating their capabilities in Best in the Desert’s unique racing challenges.”

Best in the Desert is an off-road racing organization that sanctions and promotes desert racing events in the U.S.  Among the races sanctioned by BITD are the Mint 400 and Vegas to Reno (the longest one day race in the U.S.).  The BlueWater Desert Challenge is a unique format for BITD.  Unlike the organization’s other long distance races, BlueWater features two full days of racing over a 26-mile multi-loop course.
