Toyo Open Country R/T offers best of both worlds

Sept. 4, 2014

Rugged, yet quiet – those are the features of Toyo Tire U.S.A. Corp.’s new Open Country R/T all-terrain tire.

The ability of the Open Country R/T to tackle dirt, sand, and rocks is inspired by Toyo’s Open Country M/T maximum traction tire, while its quieter ride is a nod to the brand’s best-selling tire, the Open Country A/T II all-terrain, the company says.  (See also "Toyo takes training on the road.")

High turn-up and a three-ply polyester casing strengthens the tire for improved handling, durability and tread life, while maintaining the proper load capacity. The Open Country R/T also features two spiral cap plies, contributing to high speed endurance and uniformity.

Additional features contributing to its durability and off-road performance include wide shoulder grooves, mud biting blocks and stone and mud ejectors. In addition to resisting impact, the durable sidewall compound is molded into two distinct designs so owners can customize their look.

On-road comfort and longer tire life come from features inside and out including special tread compound, an optimized pattern arrangement and interlocking tread blocks.

Eight initial launch sizes range from 17- to 20-inches in wheel diameter. The company plans to release additional sizes in early 2015. The Open Country R/T is backed with a 45,000-mile tread wear warranty and the Toyo Tires No Regrets 45-Day/500-mile trial offer.

It is built at the Toyo factory in White, Ga. The fully-automated manufacturing process together with advanced tire construction yields high uniformity, optimum balance and durability, says Toyo.
