Hooked on classics: Top road racers competing in Classic TT on Avon tires

Aug. 21, 2014

Avon tires is back at the Isle of Man for the second time this season, supporting its riders in the 2014 Manx Grand Prix and Classic TT races.

The top names in road racing have also flocked to Mona's Isle, but this time they're taking to the famous Mountain Course on classic race bikes, rather than the modern full-bore superbikes and supersport machines used at the TT races in June. Riders like Michael Dunlop, record-breaking 2014 TT triple-winner, John McGuinness, Ryan Farquhar, Bruce Anstey, Michael Rutter and William Dunlop are all confirmed as riders on Avon's classic racing tires in the blue riband Classic 500 race. Avons are also the top choice in the Classic 350 race, as well as supporting a number of riders in the modern Manx Grand Prix categories.

Avon's AM22 and AM26 Roadrider tires bring modern rubber technology to the classic race world, giving the stability, grip and longevity the top riders need for record-breaking laps on their legendary classic race bikes.

The Manx Grand Prix, which celebrated its 90th anniversary last year, is part of the Isle of Man Festival of Motorcycling, along with the Classic TT races. Practice started on Saturday 16 August, and the event finishes on Friday 29 August.
