Bridgestone promotes senior executives

The board of directors of Bridgestone Corp. has promoted several executives within Bridgestone Americas Inc. (BSA) to senior roles in the global corporation, effective Sept. 1, 2014.

The executives and their new roles are:

* Gary Garfield, BSA president and chief executive officer, will now also serve as senior vice president, Bridgestone Corp. Garfield’s previous position within Bridgestone Corp. was vice president and senior officer.

* Gordon Knapp, BSA chief operating officer and chairman and CEO and president of Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations, will now also serve as vice president and senior officer, Bridgestone Corp. Knapp’s previous position within Bridgestone Corp. was Vice President and Officer.

* Christine Karbowiak, chief administrative officer, chief risk officer and executive vice president, BSA, will now also serve as vice president and senior officer, Bridgestone Corp. Her previous role was vice president and officer of Bridgestone Corp.

The board also appointed new corporate officers. They are Philip Dobbs, chief marketing officer, U.S. & Canada consumer and commercial tire operations, and Bill Thompson, BSA chief financial officer. Both will now also serve as vice president and officer of Bridgestone Corp.

Dobbs also has been named to serve on the board of directors for Bridgestone Americas (BSAM).
