Continental Tire extends IMSA agreement

Aug. 10, 2014

Continental Tire the Americas LLC and the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) have extended their multi-year partnership. Continental will continue as the “Official Tire of IMSA” through 2018.

As part of the agreement, Continental also will continue as:

* the official tire of the Tudor United SportsCar Championship;

* the exclusive tire supplier and sponsor to the Prototype (P), Prototype Challenge (PC) and Grand Touring Daytona (GTD) classes;

* entitlement sponsor and exclusive tire supplier to the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge (CTSCC).

“We are committed to the growth and success of sports car racing in America, and we are happy to continue our dedication to giving drivers, teams and manufacturers a tire with the best technologies that they can depend on every lap," says Travis Roffler, director of marketing for Continental.

"As we continue to build the Tudor United SportsCar Championship and Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge, it is vital to have enthusiastic partners to help us grow the sport," says Ed Bennett, CEO of IMSA. "Continental Tire has been and will continue to be one of our most active and supportive partners.”

Continental will continue to use its exclusive racing tire from its ExtremeContact line of tires. Continental has incorporated a variety of technologies into the tire, which makes it durable and provides the performance that professional teams and drivers are demanding.

The company also will continue to provide full at-track support at all Tudor Championship and Continental Tire Challenge events.

As part of the agreement, Continental will continue to receive logo placement on cars in classes where its tires are used, plus off-track support for the series through a variety of promotions, marketing events and television spots. The company also will activate at-track via hospitality, signage, event entitlements and other marketing initiatives.

Continental debuted as entitlement sponsor and exclusive tire supplier for the Continental Tire Challenge in 2010. In 2011, the global company became the official tire of Grand-Am as well as exclusive tire supplier to both the Continental Tire Challenge and Rolex Sports Car Series.

At the Twelve Hours of Sebring, in March of 2013, Continental debuted as the presenting sponsor and exclusive tire provider for the PC class in the American Le Mans Series (ALMS) presented by Tequila Patrón. Continental embarked on the future with IMSA beginning in 2014.
