Nokian Tyres plc will be making tires round-the-clock, seven days a week, at its plant in Dayton, Tenn, in response to rising demand. The company plans to build "as many as one million tires" at the facility this year.
Production capacity at Kumho Tire USA Inc.'s consumer tire manufacturing plant in Macon, Ga., will increase by an additional 500,000 units per year as part of an expansion initiative that is expected to be completed by the fourth quarter of 2022.
“The USW has been in contact with management at both companies and will ensure that union members' voices will be heard throughout the process,” a spokesperson from the United Steelworkers union told MTD in reference to Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co.'s pending acquisition of Cooper Tire & Rubber Co.
Global Rubber Industries Pvt. Ltd. has broken ground on a new, $100 million plant in Badalgama, Sri Lanka, that will expand the company's specialty tire manufacturing capacity to keep up with growing demand.
