Nokian’s tire building machines assemble multiple components simultaneously. The left side, pictured, builds the tread and belt package, while the right side of the machine combines the bead into the sidewall. The tread and sidewall are then married to each other to form a green tire in about 35 to 45 seconds.

Kenda Introduces the Klever A/T2 in Las Vegas

Kenda USA introduced its latest light truck tire during Automotive Aftermarket Industry Week in Las Vegas in November. The Klever A/T2 KR628 features “Tier 1 quality at a top Tier 3 price,” said Jimmy Yang, president of American Kenda Rubber Ind. Co. Ltd. Yang is also chairman of Kenda’s parent company in Taiwan.

Good Help Is Hard to Find in Europe, Too

Locating qualified service technicians is an ongoing concern in Europe, just as it is in North America. I am aware of many of the apprenticeship programs that are currently on offer in the United States and Canada. However, I am reliably informed that these programs are not being embraced by workers as much as expected.

Plowing Ahead: Farm Tire Manufacturers Roll Out New Products in Europe

Several farm tire manufacturers introduced new products — and in one company’s case, a new farm tire performance monitoring system — at last month’s Agritechnica event. The show, which took place in Hanover, Germany, billed itself as “the world’s leading trade fair for agricultural machinery” and featured exhibitors from more than 50 countries.

Shawn Rasey says the large volume of bias construction tires in use prompted Continental to bring a bias product line under the General brand to the market.

Coming in 2020: General Brand Bias OTR Tires

Continental Tire the Americas LLC plans to launch a bias line of General brand OTR tires in 2020. The extension will include an L5 series line, an E3 series line, and an E4 series line.
