McCarthy Tire buys fleet services provider

McCarthy Tire Service Co. has purchased Hartman Fleet Services Inc., a Manassas, Va.-based provider of heavy mechanical services, fleet maintenance and repair, and mobile mechanical services to the northern Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, D.C., markets.

The Hartman Fleet Services purchase follows the acquisition of Commercial Truck Tire Center in Syracuse, N.Y., in May 2015. The company acquired Terry-Haggerty Tire in August 2014.

“Hartman Fleet Services has a well-earned reputation of excellent customer service,” says John McCarthy Jr., president of McCarthy Tire Service.

“We are very excited to add this expanded mechanical service to our existing team. This acquisition fits in perfectly with our strategic plan, and it reflects our emphasis on providing a comprehensive plan to address all the vehicle needs of our commercial customers.”

Mike Hartman, president and owner of Hartman Fleet Services, and the firm’s eight employees will immediately join the team at McCarthy Tire’s existing location at 9073 Euclid Avenue in Manassas. McCarthy Tire’s Euclid Avenue location is managed by Stan Strickland,

McCarthy Tire has 45 locations along the East Coast. Its Manassas facility offers tires, tire services, and Bandag retreading for commercial, industrial, and off-the-road (OTR) vehicles; heavy mechanical services and mobile mechanical services for commercial vehicles; and tires, services, and repairs for passenger cars and light trucks. It is part of McCarthy Tire’s 24-hour commercial roadside assistance program for fleets and independent operators in Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, and North Carolina.

Hartman Fleet Services was established in 1955. The company provides mobile maintenance and 24-hour emergency road service to the construction, supplier, Interstate haulers, truck and leasing companies, local fire and rescue departments, and recreational vehicle and trailer owners in Northern Virginia, Maryland and Washington D.C.

McCarthy Tire is a fourth-generation, family-owned and operated business based in Wilkes Barre, Pa. Founded in 1926, the company now has operations serving the commercial, industrial, off-the-road (OTR), and retail sectors of the transportation industry.

McCarthy Tire has 45 service centers and eight Bandag retread shops, including one off-the-road (OTR) retread facility, in seven states along the East Coast. The company employs more than than1,000 people and operates a fleet of 550 service vehicles. It is No. 22 on the MTD 100 .
