In 2015 we named Ricky Benton Tire Dealer of the Year. Benton owns Black's Tire Service Inc. in Whiteville, N.C., which has grown to 44 outlets in the Carolinas. (The family-run operation has added eight stores since he won our award.) His business incorporates retail and commercial stores, a wholesaling business, equipment sales, a retread shop, plus a race team.
The head of the nation's largest independent tire dealership, Bruce Halle, was our 22nd Tire Dealer of the Year in 2014. At the time there were 887 Discount Tire (and America's Tire) outlets around the country, and 30 more have opened since then.
