McCarthy's Commercial Business Is Growing Again, by Acquisition

Posted on May 4, 2017

McCarthy Tire Service Co. is expanding its commercial tire business with the acquisition of a fellow Pennsylvania tire dealer's commercial division.

McCarthy has purchased the commercial division of Scranton-Dunlop Inc., dba Sandone Tire in Scranton, Pa. The company’s retail stores are not part of the agreement.

“We are pleased to welcome Sandone Tire’s commercial customers into the McCarthy Tire family,” says John McCarthy Jr., president of McCarthy Tire Service. “This acquisition will expand our coverage in the northeastern and central Pennsylvania market area.”

Sandone Tire’s truck tire sales and service operations will be merged into McCarthy's current commercial location in nearby Dickson City. Eight employees will join McCarthy Tire Service.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The Sandone family has been in the tire business for more than 50 years.

McCarthy Tire Service has been in business since 1926, and is No. 21 on the Modern Tire Dealer 100, and holds the No. 6 spot on MTD's list of the Top Commercial Dealers in the U.S. with commercial-related sales of $301 million in 2016.
