Steve Shannon Tire Buys 2 Sandone Tire Stores

Posted on July 18, 2017

Steve Shannon Tire Co. has expanded its footprint in northeastern Pennsylvania with the purchase of two Sandone Tire Car Care Center stores from Scranton-Dunlop Inc.

The deal closed on July 17, according to Steve Shannon, president of the Bloomsburg, Pa.-based tire dealership. Financial details were not disclosed.

The stores, which are located in Taylor and Scranton, bring Steve Shannon Tire’s store count to 19 outlets. The Taylor and Scranton stores remained open during the change in ownership. Shannon says the stores will be rebranded in August.

Both stores offer passenger tires and a full range of automotive services. The Taylor location has eight bays and the Scranton location has 10 bays. The Scranton store also is a wholesale tire center.

The company's flagship Bloomsburg location is a combination commercial-retail store. Outlets in Stroudsburg and Harrisburg serve both retail and wholesale customers.

The first Steve Shannon Tire & Auto Center was opened in 1988. The stores, plus a 143,000-square-foot wholesale warehouse in Bloomsburg, sell Michelin, BFGoodrich, Goodyear, Firestone, Bridgestone, Delta, Hankook, Cooper and Uniroyal brand tires.

The company's wholesale business serves customers in a 100-mile radius of Bloomsburg. The wholesale centers provide tires to Steve Shannon Tire stores, other retail tire stores, and commercial account such as car lots.

Steve Shannon Tire’s 20th store is currently under construction in Lewisburg, Pa., and will open by Sept 1.

The addition of the Taylor and Scranton stores move Steve Shannon Tire Co. from No. 64 in the Modern Tire Dealer 100 rankings to No. 58. When the 20th store opens, the company will be tied for No. 56 on the list.
