Robertson Tire Acquires Gateway Tire Stores in Tulsa

Posted on March 5, 2018

Robertson Tire Co. Inc. has acquired three Gateway Tire & Service Center locations in the Tulsa, Okla., area, effective March 1, 2018.

Two of those stores have reopened as Robertson Tire stores on March 5. The third store, at 1701 E. 6th St., closed in February, and business there was immediately moved to a nearby, existing Robertson Tire store about a half mile away. Robertson Tire says the Gateway Tire store on Sixth Street "will be listed on the market soon."

Robertson Tire has acquired and rebranded two Gateway Tire stores in Tulsa, giving the family-owned dealership 14 locations in the Tulsa area. The company's store in Broken Arrow, Okla., is pictured.

Robertson Tire says it will honor existing Gateway warranties for affected customers.

Shane Robertson, corporate development director for Robertson Tire, says, "We are so proud to expand our footprint to these new locations. Our family has been committed to offering the most honest customer service possible for over 55 years. We want every customer of Gateway to know that they will be taken care of like family, and they can trust their vehicles with us. We look forward to many years of success in these new locations!”

“When the opportunity came to purchase the Gateway stores, we knew quickly we should jump on board. It’s our goal to remain No. 1 in every way in this region, and that includes how many stores we own and operate. It is a huge convenience for our customers to know that there is always a Robertson Tire nearby if they need help with their tires or auto service, especially at a place they know and trust.”

The addition of two stores gives Robertson Tire 14 retail locations in the greater Tulsa area. The company, under the leadership of its second generation of owners, also operates a wholesale division and a corporate office in Tulsa. The company's expansion will move Robertson Tire from a tied-for-93rd spot on the Modern Tire Dealer 100, to a tie for the No. 81 spot with other tire dealers who operate 14 stores.

Ted Robertson started the business in February 1962 in his hometown of Tulsa, and his sons, Mark and Rick Robertson, continue to lead the business, along with other members of the family.
