Kumho Tires to be OE on VW Atlas

Posted on May 15, 2018

Kumho Tire U.S.A. Inc. has been selected by the Volkswagen Group of America as an original equipment supplier for the new 2018 Atlas SUV.

As the newest and largest member of the Volkswagen portfolio, the seven-passenger SUV will be available with the Kumho Crugen KL33 in size 245/60R18 in the North American market and Crugen HP91 in sizes 245/60R18 and 255/50R20 for fitments overseas.

The tires are produced at the company’s Gwangju plant in Korea and will be supplied to Volkswagen’s factory in Chattanooga, Tenn.

“We are elated to be associated with Volkswagen’s exciting new entry into the SUV category by supplying the 2018 Atlas with our Crugen premium tires," says Harry Choi, CEO of Kumho Tire USA. “The extensive collaboration with Volkswagen further demonstrates our strategic and steadfast focus on expanding our global OE business.”

The tires offer all-weather performance and a smooth, comfortable and quiet ride thanks to an upgraded silica compound and noise-canceling tread that reduces road noise and vibration, the company notes.
