Hankook Partners with Ford -- Again -- with Its Ventus Prime 3

Posted on December 20, 2018

Hankook Tire Co. Ltd. has a new original equipment fitment. The Hankook Ventus Prime 3 will be OE on the new Ford Focus Active in two V-rated sizes: 215/50R18 and 215/55R17.

The ultra-high performance tire is designed to offer "the perfect balance" between performance, comfort and safety, says the company. Featuring a high-grip silica tread compound, it provides "excellent" driving and braking capabilities on both wet and dry surfaces.

"The Ventus Prime 3, a fruit of our fine engineers and countless members, has been recognized by many for its great performance and now by Ford Motor Co.,” said Hyun Jun Cho, head of Hankook's OE Division. "Hankook Tire is extremely proud to have been chosen as the original equipment supplier of Ford Motor Co. again, our long-term partner."

Hankook began supplying original equipment tires to Ford in 1999. Today, it provides products to models ranging from the Ford Fiesta and Explorer to the Mustang.

The new Ford Focus Active’s design was inspired by SUVs, and its features incorporate an array of smart technologies, including selectable drive modes. The Ventus Prime 3, with its larger size, is expected to make the vehicle more stable, increasing performance in all terrains.

The Ventus Prime 3 has been recognized internationally for its design and performance. Among its honors, it received the 2016 Red Dot Design Concept award for product design.
