Tire Discounters Inc. has opened its sixth location in the Huntsville, Ala., area.

The newest outlet is in the Research Park Community off of Interstate 565. Less than four weeks ago, the Cincinnati, Ohio-based dealership opened a store about 25 miles away in Decatur, Ala.

The new store is at 7009 Cabela Dr. N.W. The company says the outlet will employ local residents, many of whom trained at other area Tire Discounters stores.

“I’m honored to have the opportunity to serve our new neighbors in the Research Park Community. We’ve had customers driving all the way to Madison to visit Tire Discounters. Our store on Cabela Drive will be a lot more convenient for them,” says David Chirello, Southern Division director for Tire Discounters.

The grand opening celebration runs through the end of June. “We’re offering great deals like up to $100 instant savings on major tire brands, up to $100 off brake services and 50% off a full synthetic oil change, which includes a free tire rotation,” says Charles Curlee, vice president of retail sales.

Tire Discounters was founded by Chip Wood in 1976 and is family-owned and operated. Wood remains the sole owner and company chairman, but in recent years has been transitioning to the second generation of leadership. President Jamie Ward has worked for the company for over 20 years. Additionally, Steven Wood, Chip’s eldest son, has worked in the company for over 5 years and currently serves on the leadership team. Steven’s sister and brother, Anna and Evan Wood, are also learning the business from the ground up.

Tire Discounters is No. 7 on the Modern Tire Dealer 100 list. The company currently employs more than 1,200 people in more than 120 locations in Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, Tennessee, Georgia, and Alabama. For more information, visit
