Bridgestone Innovation Park to Focus on Advanced Mobility

Posted on December 2, 2019

Bridgestone Corp. has announced plans to create Bridgestone Innovation Park, a global center of research and development that will help the company "accelerate its transformation into a global leader in advanced mobility."

The multi-year project will involve a major reconstruction of the tiremaker's operations in Kodaira, Japan, and will include four new facilities that will open over the next four years. The first, a museum dedicated to Bridgestone's history of innovation, will open in June 2020. The complex's B-Innovation lab will open in November 2021. Its B-Mobility center, which will be a "demonstration and testing facility to promote agile product development," according to Bridgestone officials, also will open in late-2021, to be followed by the company's Bridgestone AHL Arena.

"The world is rapidly evolving and Bridgestone must be ready to meet the needs of the next generation with advanced and sustainable solutions for mobility and beyond," says Bridgestone Chairman Masaaki Tsuya. "Bridgestone Innovation Park will be the cornerstone of our company's next chapter as we focus on innovation that contributes to society's advancement and creates new value for our customers, our partners and the world around us."
