ITDG Plans Regional Meetings for Dealers

Independent Tire Dealers Group LLC (ITDG) is taking its show on the road in a series of seven regional meetings designed to make it easier and less expensive for members to attend.

After another tire dealer closed in Baldwin City, Kan., Bill Leach bought the building and opened his second location, Mr. Tire of Baldwin. Leach plans to open three or four more locations in eastern Kansas. “At this point anything else I would build would be a Mr. Tire.”

Program Groups Help Dealers Focus on Selling

Bill Leach had wanted to expand beyond his one-store tire business in Paola, Kan., for some time. So when he finally found the perfect location for a second store, about 30 miles away in Baldwin City, Kan., he was ready to roll. And one decision at least was an easy one.

Tire Pros joins 'buy local' campaign

Tire Pros, a subsidiary of American Tire Distributors (ATD), is partnering with Independent We Stand, a nationwide movement of independent businesses that believe buying local can make a big impact in communities across the country.

United Tire & Service partners (from left) Andy Chafolsky, Jeff Cohen, Ken Sylvester and Tim Steigerwalt launched their company’s brand on April 29. As a collective group, United Tire & Service will be ranked as the largest independent tire group in the region and the second largest tire group in their market area, preceded only by Pep Boys-Manny, Moe and Jack. There are currently 14 dealers in the group with 17 shops.

17 independent tire stores band together to form United Tire & Service

The name United Tire & Service LLC reflects the mission of 17 independent tire stores in Pennsylvania’s Delaware Valley: unite to compete against big box retailers and national tire dealers. “We are individual businessmen who have gotten together to buy better,” says Ken Sylvester, president.
