Two Tire Distributors Are Merging

There's another big change afoot in the North American tire distribution landscape. This time, it's in Canada. Groupe Touchette Inc. is acquiring Atlas Tire Wholesale Inc. The combined companies expect sales to reach between $550 million and $650 million.

The first week of July 2018 will mark the launch of TireHub, the joint distribution project of Goodyear and Bridgestone.

TireHub Gets the Green Light From Regulators

TireHub LLC is a go. The joint venture for passenger and light truck tire distribution between Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. and Bridgestone Americas Inc. will begin serving customers the first week of July.  


U.S. AutoForce Has Bought Tire's Warehouse

The landscape for U.S. tire distribution continues to change, as two more companies are combining forces. U.S. AutoForce (USAF) has acquired Tire's Warehouse Inc. (TWI) as of June 1, 2018.  


Distribution: Michelin and SCOA Form NTW Tire Wholesale Venture

What spurred Michelin North America Inc. to buy 50% of TBC Corp. from Sumitomo Corporation of Americas (SCOA)? Michelin Chairman and President Scott Clark says the resulting joint venture “is about increasing our service capabilities and increasing our scale so that we can be a better supplier to both independent dealers and to provide secondary supply to our direct customers.”

Tire's Warehouse moves into Northern California

Tire’s Warehouse Inc. is opening a new distribution center June 15, 2015, in Union City, Calif. This is the sixth warehouse in California for Tire’s Warehouse, which also conducts business in Fountain Valley, Redlands, Santa Fe Springs, Sylmar, and the headquarters in Corona.

The Akina ST-07 is manufactured in Thailand.

Hello again! Stamford promotes Sumo Akina

Singapore-based Stamford Tyres Corp. intends to reintroduce its Sumo Akina line in North America in a big way. The company is already promoting the new Akina ST-07 passenger car tire.

"Given the (new) DC’s larger size, not only will we be able to hold more inventory, we will also be able to have it function as a hub," says Kahrs.

Yokohama expands inventory in California

A few months ago, Yokohama Tire Corp. relocated its corporate headquarters (HQ) from Fullerton to Santa Ana, Calif., after 28 years. It also moved its Fullerton distribution center (DC) to a new 658,000-square-foot facility in Chino, Calif.

Through its LINK program, Countrywide can drive shipments straight to the customer's door when needed, says Anne Housh.

Distribution is in Countrywide's D.N.A.

Countrywide Tire & Rubber Inc. is offering a new "umbrella" program that will allow dealers to customize shipments by item and location using any combination of its LINK or Select programs.


Continental opens D/C in California

Continental Tire the Americas LLC's new distribution center in Redlands, Calif., already is at full operating capacity, the company reports. The warehouse's grand opening was held on April 15.
