Forty-four Point S stores in the U.S. have been named top performers for 2018. Their ratings are based on essential brand standards the tire dealers set for themselves and expect to carry out across the 200+ plus stores in the network.
Point S Tire & Auto Service retailers in the U.S. have access to new tools to help them serve consumers online, manage customer feedback and pursue and track declined services. Leaders expect the tools will help Point S dealers beat the 10% increase in sales they recorded in 2018.
With six bays and two crews of employees, Cory Brown’s tire store was servicing 1,500 to 2,000 vehicles a month from a 6,200 square-foot location on Campbell Street in Rapid City, S.D. “We were climbing all over ourselves for space,” he says.
As the Point S Tire & Auto brand continues its march into the eastern U.S., leaders are celebrating a year of 16 new stores and the opportunity of four new market states. But it's not only about the new guys. Existing dealers are happy too, and giving the network high marks in its annual survey.
T & T Tire Center Inc., dba T & T Tire Point S Auto Service, has called the Puget Sound home since 1955. This summer the Tacoma, Wash., business has celebrated its community spirit by supporting the local chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI).
The 212 stores in Tire Factory Inc.’s network sold 6.5% more tires in 2017 than in 2016, and they increased overall sales by 8%. There was improvement in same-store sales — dealers who have rebranded to the Point S banner increased sales by 5.5%, and those who haven’t were up 3.5%.
Point S tire dealers who are members of Tire Factory Inc. have voted to establish "essential store standards" throughout the member-owned cooperative.
Tire Factory Inc. dealers reported to University City, Calif., for their 2018 annual meeting. With nearly 500 dealers, vendors and guests on hand, the group learned about new initiatives underway for the Point S retail banner, gathered product tips from top tire manufacturers, walked the trade show floor, and even spent some time at Universal Studios next door.

In addition to working on the eastern expansion of the Point S brand in the U.S., Tire Factory Inc. has continued to build up the foundation of its cooperative in western states, adding 20 locations in 11 states in 2017.
The same day Tire Factory Inc. took possession of a warehouse in Memphis, Tenn. — its first in the eastern half of the U.S. — CEO Walter Lybeck says the tire cooperative already had “20 store leads” it was actively pursuing. “And that number is growing quickly."
Tire Factory Inc. and Point S USA are making a big move to expand their network of tire dealers into the eastern half of the country. The company is partnering with Nussbaum Distributing Inc. in Memphis, Tenn., to distribute tires to four states.
Ron's Tire Inc. opened a new store in Idaho Falls, Idaho, and its inventory features much more than tires. Motorcycles, bicycles, power equipment, grills and even barbecue sauce are sold here. The sales staff is cross trained to sell every product under the roof.
