Brett Ponton Will Take Over at Monro

John Van Heel is leaving Monro Muffler Brake Inc. after 15 years with the company, the last five as its CEO. He will be replaced by Brett Ponton, whose career includes time at Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., where he rose through the ranks and eventually served as vice president of marketing for the North American tire division and managed more than 800 retail locations.  

Walter Lybeck has risen to the top at Tire Factory as its new permanent CEO. At the group's annual meeting in February 2016, Modern Tire Dealer overheard dealers tell board members they thought Lybeck had done well as interim CEO and should be considered a top candidate.

Tire Factory Picks Its New CEO

Walter Lybeck, the chief financial officer of Tire Factory Inc. who has served as the cooperative's interim CEO since August 2015, has been named the permanent CEO.


Pep Boys names Hertz veteran new CEO

The Pep Boys – Manny, Moe & Jack has a new CEO. Scott Sider, who most recently served as group president of Hertz Corp.'s Rent a Car Americas division, has been appointed CEO and a member of the Pep Boys board of directors.
