Think major changes in the wholesale tire distribution channel were over for this year? Think again.
Tire America is retailing tires again, thanks to TBC Corp. And like its former incarnation, it offers more brands than the norm.
The formal transition of Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co.'s G3X program away from American Tire Distributors Inc. (ATD) will be on June 30, 2018. After that, ATD says it "will continue to provide Goodyear product for all other customers until a determined transition time."
By now, you have probably heard that Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. and Bridgestone Americas Inc. are joining forces to create what they say is "one of the largest tire distribution joint ventures in the United States."
The wholesale landscape will look a lot different when TBC Corp. becomes a joint venture company owned by Michelin North America Inc. and Sumitomo Corporation of Americas (SCOA).
