Yokohama is expanding in California

July 23, 2014

Yokohama Tire Corp. (YTC) plans to move its western distribution operations to a larger, newly constructed warehouse in Chino, Calif. by the end of 2014. The new facility is about 22 miles from the current warehouse in Fullerton, Calif.

At 658,000 square feet, the new warehouse is much larger than the 380,000-square-foot facility it will replace. The company says years of strong growth spurred the expansion. YTC says the Chino warehouse will be the “cornerstone” of its U.S. distribution network.

“We prospered in Fullerton for almost three decades and appreciate all the support the community gave us,” says Tom Masuguchi, YTC’s chief strategy officer.

“The new Western Region Distribution Center in Chino ushers in a new era for Yokohama, not only in terms of growth, but also strategy, and it’s only the beginning” says Masuguchi.

“In addition to infrastructure advantages, we will be breaking ground with new processes for servicing our customers, filling orders, and distributing inventory throughout our four distribution centers in the country. The new facility will be the cornerstone of the future of our U.S. distribution network.”

YTC says its new Western Region Distribution Center, located at 16388 Fern Avenue in the county of San Bernardino, is designed to hold tires at more than twice the capacity of the existing warehouse and bring together both full-time and contract labor. It will be used to distribute Yokohama’s products consisting of passenger car/truck, commercial truck and OTR tires.

YTC is the North American manufacturing and marketing arm of Tokyo, Japan-based Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd. The company’s product line includes tires for high-performance, light truck, passenger car, commercial truck and bus, and off-the-road mining and construction applications.
