Vredestein introduces Snowtrac 5

June 23, 2014

The new Vredestein Snowtrac 5 is a winter tire. However, it also was designed to have excellent traction on wet and dry roads.

As part of its global tire launch in Edinburgh, Scotland, Apollo Vredestein B.V. introduced a next-generation winter tire that optimizes handling on snow and ice. It features the following:

* unique siping technology. The sipes of the Snowtrac 5 not only vary in shape and depth, but also "have been placed in various directions," according to the company. In addition, the total length of the deep sipes has been increased by nearly 30% compared to its predecessor, the Snowtrac 3. The result? Optimal balance between the sipes in the lateral and longitudinal direction, which leads to traction and grip in bends on wet surfaces, snow and ice.

* a full silica compound, which provides the tire with optimal handling characteristics on both snow and ice, and helps reduce rolling resistance.

* "Stealth Technology." As previously mentioned, the lateral and longitudinal grooves include many surfaces of varying sizes. This innovative design allows the tread and its unique surface distribution to absorb tire sound, resulting in "extremely low interior noise."

* unique geometric angles in the central zone of the tread, which create a continuous central groove that "ensures extra stability" for steering precision and driving comfort on dry and wet surfaces.

The Vredestein Snowtrac5 is available in 17 sizes, ranging from 165/70R14 81T to 195/45R16 84H XL. The tire is produced at the Vredestein plant in The Netherlands.
