Reifen 2014 countdown, plus a point S preview

May 24, 2014

This is the third in a series of reports about the Reifen 2014 International Trade Fair from esteemed international journalist John Stone. The event is being held in Essen, Germany, May 27-30.

Stone, who writes European Notebook for Modern Tire Dealer, wrote previews in his inimitable British style until the show began. Now, look for his timely reports on the drama that is the Reifen Trade Fair!

Europe's largest and most significant tyre and equipment exhibition -- Reifen 2014 in Essen, Germany -- has opened. Over the weekend, people began flying into Europe from all over the world to exhibit, and joining them was just as many Europeans driving in the direction of Essen as the mad, frantic rush to erect booths began to take place.

There has been a final raft of news drifting in from companies explaining their products and objectives for the event, including the leading European specialist in European independent tire dealer networks -- point S, which has announced that at this show, they will be concentrating on further increasing the company's retail image following a steady series of developments this year.

In February, point S launched its new version of its eios Business–to-Business Ordering website, which is currently being used by around 1,600 members. Visitors to the booth can learn about point S's progress in the ongoing development of a wide range of new private label products.

Apollo Vredestein will also be introducing their new Alnac 4G winter and Alnac 4G all-season tire patterns at a press conference on the first day of the show (Tuesday), which will be headed by Mr. Marco Paracciani, chief marketing officer, and Mr. Abhishek Bisht, global brand head.

Triangle Tires will be displaying an extensive range of their latest PCR, LT, TBR and OTR pattern ranges, whilst leading Buffing Blade manufacturer B&J Rocket intends to launch its all-new Rocket Evo Blades, which the company considers will kickstart a new evolution in this specialist market sector.

Finally, on an IT note, software and data specialists DriveRight will be releasing a variety of new products, including an updated version of TyreFit version 4, a new integrated search facility for tire product data which incorporates images and tire label information.

I will be at the show for the full four days and filing daily "live" reports, including coverage of meetings and press conferences at Hunter Engineering, Apollo Vredestein, Triangle and B&J Rocket.
