April 22, 2014

Tire manufacturer Hankook continues as the exclusive supplier to the FIA Formula 3 European Championship this year with its Ventus race tires. In the 33 races this season, young upcoming talents from around the world can demonstrate their skill at races as support to Europe’s top events like the DTM.

For this season, the premium tire manufacturer supplies a further-developed tire from its successful Ventus Race Formula slick offering even more grip.

On the calendar this season are 33 races over 11 weekends as a partner series to the DTM. Teams and drivers face challenging conditions on circuits like Imola, Spa-Francorchamps, Silverstone, Nürburgring and Hockenheim, which require not only driver talent but also commitment and a willingness to learn.

“In the FIA Formula 3 European Championship, pilots need to call upon their technical expertise. They must understand the tires. Only then are they in a position to get the most out of the rubber,” explains Manfred Sandbichler, Hankook’s Motorsport Director for Europe. “This applies more than ever in 2014, because we’ve given this year’s tires even more performance. I’m looking forward to gripping races and an impressive grid line-up this year.”

This season’s further-developed tires allow even faster lap times. “During the official pre-season tests with the teams, we saw that our new tire specification reaches the optimum operating window faster at consistently fast lap times. It will certainly be interesting to see how the rookies and experienced F3 pilots are able to get the most out of the increased potential of our Ventus slicks,” explains Christophe Stucki, Hankook’s chief race engineer in Europe.

This year, 30 drivers will compete in twelve teams for the title of the European championship. Hankook’s commitment to Europe’s most important feeder formula series underlines the company’s active support of talented youngsters and is also the effective expansion of its brand awareness in the world of top motor racing.
