Pirelli Tire LLC has received an Excellence Award for the fourth straight year for achievements in worker health and safety at its factory in Rome, Ga., from the Rubber Manufacturer Association (RMA).
Paolo Ferrari, chairman and CEO of Pirelli Tire North America, accepted the award at the March RMA Board meeting.
“It was an honor to receive this Excellence Award from the RMA on behalf of Pirelli North America, thanks to the work and efforts of our team in Rome, Ga. We have a strong team at our factory that is committed to engineering and implementing the very best sustainability, health and safety initiatives,” says Ferrari.
This award forms part of the RMA’s Safety and Health Improvement Program (SHIP) created in 1981, which recognizes member companies that achieve significant enhancements in worker health and safety measured by the incidence rate for lost workday cases.
The excellence category recognizes facilities that achieve a Days Away Restricted Transfer (DART) rate that is 75 percent above average of all the plants that provided data to RMA, which in 2013 totaled 42 plants from seven RMA member companies.
The data supplied to RMA is identical to information provided to the Federal Bureau of Labor Statistics, which publishes injury and illness information on all industries.
Pirelli Tire North America services North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) member countries through its Modular Integrated Robotized System (MIRS) facility and research and development center at its Rome, Ga., headquarters, its state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in Silao, Mexico and its New York City, Montreal and Mexico City sales and marketing offices.
The company manufactures, distributes and markets original equipment and replacement tires for export and domestic car/motorcycle applications (U.S, Canada, Mexico) and agro/eavy truck platforms (Mexico).
