Flynn’s Tire & Auto Service is sponsoring a diaper drive for families in need. “Kristi’s Diaper Drive” is a senior high school project inspired by Kristi Fitzgerald, daughter of Shaun Fitzgerald, general manager of Flynn’s Tire Wholesale.
Kristi Fitzgerald is a senior at Seneca Valley High School in Harmony, Pa., in Butler County.
The 19 Flynn’s Tire & Auto Service retail locations in western Pennsylvania and eastern Ohio will serve as drop off points for this diaper drive. Each store will have a collection bin in which the public can drop off unopened packages of disposable diapers to help financially struggling families in need. Diapers will then be collected by Flynn’s Wholesale delivery trucks on May 8th and delivered to the North Hills Food Bank in Ross Township, Pa.
The North Hills Food Bank has been a local community organization for more than 30 years and serves nearly 600 people each month.
In planning her senior project Fitzgerald said, “I wanted to choose a project that will help people in the community. Diapers are expensive and that can take a huge part of a mother’s budget. A diaper drive can give some relief to financially struggling mothers."
She said being able to place her collection bins in all 19 of the Flynn’s Tire & Auto Service locations is a great help.
"I am very thankful that I have the North Hills Food Bank to take my donated diapers to because I know that they have a network in place to distribute them to those that need them.”
In addition to being a major regional tire retailer, Flynn's Tire Group also owns four Flynn's Commercial Tire service centers; a truck tire retread facility (in Dover, Ohio) and four wholesale distribution centers. The group is based in West Middlesex, Pa.
This year marks Flynn’s 50th anniversary in the tire business. The company is 51st on the Modern Tire Dealer 100 list with 23 stores.
