Truck trailer orders gain in December

Jan. 24, 2014

The trailer industry saw a 14% month-over-month gain in net orders in December, 2013, as six of the 10 trailer categories posted positive results, according to Americas Commercial Trucking (ACT) Research.

For 2013, a total of 231,700 orders were booked, down just under 2% from 2012’s result. This was the third consecutive year of annual orders greater than 230,000, says ACT.

“All trailer categories had single-digit cancellation rates, which is a positive for the industry,” says Frank Maly, director – CV Transportation Analysis and Research at ACT.

“In addition to indicating that existing fleet commitments are solid, low cancellations also simplify material flow and order planning by the original equipment manufacturers.”
