TIA offers risk manager seminar for tire dealers

Jan. 8, 2014

The Tire Industry Association (TIA) has announced a designated risk manager seminar for tire dealers and auto service centers led by Federated Insurance April 28-30, 2014, in Owatonna, Minn.

Federated is TIA’s endorsed provider for business liability insurance. The seminar will be held at Federated's headquarters in Owatonna.

TIA says the seminar is designed for owners and key employees who are responsible for implementing risk management strategies at their tire dealership or auto service center. The seminar targets risk management concerns for the tire industry. Key agenda items include:

* distracted driving;

* hiring, screening and retaining employees;

* tire dealers/auto service center claims handling;

* implementing a drug and alcohol free workplace; and

* major loss areas in the tire industry.

“Tire dealers that are most successful at controlling losses have a designated key person as their risk manager," says TIA Executive Vice President Roy Littlefield.

“The challenge is that typically it is not a full-time position and the responsibility falls on someone who has other full-time duties to fulfill. This is where Federated’s designated risk manager seminar can be so valuable.”

There is no charge for TIA members to attend the seminar. Attendees are responsible for the cost of travel, lodging (at a discounted rate), and incidental meals. Space is limited to 25 persons.
