Icahn's Pep Boys Acquires 10 Stores in Washington

Dec. 21, 2017

Carl Icahn's automotive business has acquired a 10-store tire dealership in the state of Washington. The stores will be rebranded under the Pep Boys — Manny, Moe & Jack brand.

A spokeswoman for Icahn Automotive Group LLC confirmed the purchase of Elliott Tire & Auto Service Inc., with four stores in Seattle, plus locations in Everett, Kent, Kirkland, Mt. Vernon, Woodinville and Yakima, Wash.

Elliott Tire was founded in 1978, and offered tire sales as well as a full range of automotive services. On its website the company says it fixes cars "from your headlights to your taillights!"

It's the latest move by Icahn to expand his automotive business from coast to coast. There have been many acquisitions, but here are a few highlights:

In September his company bought a 15-store dealership in Arizona, and in May the target was a 12-store chain in the Memphis area. 2017 began with a 134-store acquisition

Icahn's been just as aggressive in growing his auto parts businesses.
