Appalachian Tire expands retread production

March 28, 2001

Appalachian Tire Products Inc. has doubled its retreading capacity by consolidating two retread plants into one facility at company headquarters in Charleston, W. Va.

The 22-outlet dealership now retreads 125 medium commercial truck tires a day. "We have a capacity of up to 175 a day," says company President Walt Dial Jr., who adds the plant will be running at maximum efficiency by summer.

Appalachian Tire, which also retreads a limited number of light truck tires, is the 48th largest independent tire store chain in North America, according to Modern Tire Dealer statistics.
