Is This the Largest Super Singles Setup for MFWD Tractors Ever?

Nov. 22, 2017

Titan International Inc. has added the Goodyear-branded Optitrac LSW1100/35R32 and LSW1250/35R46 super single tire setup to its Extreme Flotation lineup.

Titan says the Goodyear OptiTrac LSW1100/35R32 and LSW1250/35R46 configuration is the world’s largest super single tire setup currently available for MFWD (Mechanical Front Wheel Drive) tractors.

Compared to a standard dual setup, this configuration offers an approximate 25% improvement to footprint, thereby reducing soil compaction and improving yield, according to the company.

“We’re starting to see growers shift the old mindset that if you’re running an MFWD tractor, you have to run duals. If you’re not running the tractor between the rows post-emergence, there’s really no reason why you should be running duals. In fact, you’re causing unnecessary pinch row compaction by doing so,” says Scott Sloan, agricultural product manager for Titan and Goodyear Farm Tires.

“By running these super singles, a grower will not only reduce field disturbance, but they’ll experience better ride quality and improve their ability to work in wet field conditions that would otherwise be inaccessible.”

The new Extreme Flotation setup is designed with Titan’s Low Sidewall Technology (LSW), featuring a larger rim diameter and shorter sidewall as compared to standard tires. The LSW design dampens the sidewall recoil that often causes road lope and power hop — issues that can slow down transport, and inhibits planting and tillage operations. Additionally, LSW provides the ability to carry the same weight load as comparable standard tires, but at 40% lower inflation pressures, which serves to further reduce soil compaction, according to Titan.

In addition to this latest Extreme Flotation setup for MFWD tractors, Titan offers an extensive lineup of LSW flotation options for sprayers, combines and 4WD tractors. Most recently, Titan released the new LSW1400/30R46, the widest flotation option currently available for 4WD tractors.
