Pirelli Set an OE Record in August

Sept. 26, 2017

Pirelli & Cie SpA set a record in the month of August — 110 new original equipment fittings. The fitments include winter tires, all-season tires, and of course Pirelli performance tires.

Some of those fittings were revealed at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show, including tires on the Porsche Cayenne, Lamborghini Aventador's Roadster and the McLaren 570S Spider.

Here's a look at some of Pirelli's latest OE work:

The new Bentley Continental GT. Pirelli engineers developed different tire sizes for front and rear to guarantee maximum performance for this luxury grand touring vehicle. Pirelli will also introduce 22-inch tires for Bentley soon alongside the current 20-inch and 21-inch tires.

Audi selected Pirelli as original equipment for its Audi RS5 Coupe in the grand touring class, as well as its RS4 Avant sibling. Both were previewed at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

The new Porsche Cayenne is riding on Pirelli tires. For the upcoming winter season, Pirelli’s Scorpion Winter tires will also be available for this car.

Lamborghini and McLaren both continue to turn to Pirelli, including the new Aventador S Roadster and 570S Spider.

Jaguar’s new e-Trophy vehicle, the electric racing version of the I-Pace road car, is fitted with Pirelli tires, too.

The Audi A8, BMW X3 and BMW 6 Series GT also contributed to Pirelli’s record of 110 homologations in August.

Pirelli says, "Achieving this record has been a steady work in progress, as most homologations take two to three years at least to ensure the ‘perfect fit’. During this time, Pirelli’s engineers work closely with the car manufacturer’s team to develop a specific tire to suit the car model’s technical needs and performance."
