Four New Stores Will Give Tire Discounters 115
As of Jan. 1, 2019, there will be 112 Tire Discounters outlets in six states. The latest four outlets will be opened by the end of the year, says Tire Discounters Inc. President Jamie Ward.
"This year we’ve grown through partnerships, like our stores in Dalton, Ga., and organically with new customers and new stores in our existing markets. Our entry into Knoxville marks an exciting end to 2018."
Two of the four new stores will open in Knoxville, Tenn. The stores in Oak Ridge and Cedar Bluff mark the company’s long-awaited entry into the metropolitan Knoxville market.
"It would be nice to have one of your stores in Knoxville," said a customer from Tennessee during his call to the Tire Discounters customer service line in May 2017. "You offer quality services, so it would be nice to have you here."
Ward adds Tire Discounters is planning to open more stores in Knoxville in 2019.
The other two stores are located in existing markets: Chattanooga, Tenn., and Huntsville, Ala.
"It’s important to us that our customers’ vehicles are safe and ready to roll for long holiday road trips and everyday travel," says Charles Curlee, vice president of retail sales. "Tire Discounters includes conveniences like free safety inspections and free alignment with every standard four tire purchase because it’s the right thing to do for our customers."
Tire Discounters was founded by Chip Wood in 1976 and is still family-owned and operated. Wood remains the sole owner and company chairman, but in recent years has begun a smooth transition to the second generation of leadership.
Ward, a valued employee and protégé for more than 20 years, is now the driving force in the company day-to-day. Additionally, Steven Wood, Chip’s eldest son, has worked in the company for more than five years and serves on the leadership team. Steven’s sister and brother, Anna and Evan Wood, are also learning the business from the ground up.
Tire Discounters is ranked seventh on the Modern Tire Dealer 100 list of the top independent tire dealerships in the U.S. For more information, visit www.tirediscounters.com, or check out these links:
