Bandag BDM3 Is a Resilient Option for Refuse Trucks

Nov. 14, 2018

Bridgestone Americas Inc. has updated the tread compound for its Bandag retread product for refuse applications. The Bandag BDM3 is designed to last longer and provide better traction and cut and chip resistance than the previous model, the BDM2. The BDM3 for the drive position also features a non-directional tread pattern that delivers traction in various on- and off-highway environments and helps reduce mounting complexity.

“Refuse fleets encounter a wide variety of terrain and conditions, which is why we designed the Bandag BDM3 retread to be a high performing, mixed service solution that can withstand the rigors of the waste industry,” says LaTres Jarrett, director of marketing for Bandag at Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations LLC. “The Bandag BDM3 retread extends tire casing life to help fleets capitalize on their full tire asset potential and positively impact the bottom line.”

Bridgestone breaks down the key features of the BDM3:

  • a non-directional tread design for traction both on- and off the road;
  • stone rejection technology that helps to increase tire casing life; and
  • a proprietary tread compound, which offers a 10% improvement in tread wear life cmpared to the Bandag BDM2.
