NGK Spark Plugs Adds Products and a Brand

Nov. 1, 2018

NGK Spark Plugs (U.S.A) Inc. introduced a spark plug, a sensor line and a vehicle electronics brand at the 2018 Automotive Aftermarket Product Expo (AAPEX) and Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show.

The new product is NGK Ruthenium HX spark plugs. The new line is NTK Technical Sensors. The new brand is WVE Vehicle Electronics.

New spark plug

The company says the Ruthenium HX is the latest in high-ignitability spark plug technology comprised of the precious metal ruthenium. This new product contains 25 part numbers covering over 200 million vehicles currently in operation.

The new NGK Ruthenium HX offers higher ignitability, enhanced oxidation resistance and increased durability for today's modern engines, according to the company. NGK Ruthenium HX spark plugs provide twice the service life of NGK Iridium IX plugs and four times the service life of nickel spark plugs.

In addition, NGK is launching a spark plug service interval resource by including original equipment manufacturer suggested spark plug replacement recommendations in its ngksparkplugs.com parts finder and the company's Aces catalog content. The company says it is the first to offer a spark plug service interval resource in the industry.

New technical sensors line

NGK Spark Plugs has also expanded its NTK product portfolio beyond oxygen sensors to include a premium line of technical sensors products. Within the NTK Technical Sensors portfolio are position, pressure, speed, temperature, fluid level, emissions and specialty sensors.

NTK says it is currently the only OE brand with a premium line of sensors designed to cover more than 95% of all vehicles on the road.

New brand

The new WVE Vehicle Electronics brand offers bumper to bumper products covering electrical components for both domestic and import vehicles. WVE has a broad portfolio with 215 product types for connectors, emissions, ignition, relays, solenoids and switches. The company says the WVE Vehicle Electronics brand is dedicated to the same level of original equipment (OE) quality as NGK and NTK,

NGK spark plugs, NTK sensors and the WVE brand of products are manufactured in ISO 14001, ISO/TS 16949 and ISO/IEC 17025 certified facilities to ensure durability and quality standards. They also undergo extreme testing conditions in ISO 17025 accredited labs, according to the company.

“As an extension of where the market is going, we see a huge opportunity to leverage our OE legacy, performance and quality standards in sensors and vehicle electronics,” says Danielle Orlando, general manager of brand marketing for NGK.

Founded in 1936, NGK Spark Plugs manufactures ignition products, oxygen sensors, technical sensors and vehicle electronics for virtually every automotive manufacturer in the world.
