Hunter Engineering Is a Finalist for the SEMA Manufacturer of the Year Award

Oct. 24, 2018

Hunter Engineering Co. has been recognized by the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) for its commitment to manufacturing quality. The company is a finalist for SEMA’s 2018 Manufacturer of the Year award.

SEMA established the award “to honor a manufacturer for their outstanding contribution to the industry during the past 12 months.” Hunter met numerous criteria to become a finalist. These metrics include:

  • outstanding business practices;
  • innovative processes and products;
  • investing in the well-being of our employees;
  • exhibiting a high degree of corporate social responsibility;
  • protecting our brand equity; and
  • providing exceptional service to customers.

An excerpt from the company’s nomination follows.

"Hunter Engineering is incredibly proud to engineer and manufacture the industry’s leading automotive service equipment right here in the United States. Hunter has the largest dedicated engineering and research & development team in the automotive service equipment industry, all in an effort to constantly provide products to our customers that make the job faster, easier and more profitable.

"Hunter is also incredibly proud to support our customers with the industry’s largest field organization, consisting of over 400+ dedicated service representatives, and 380+ dedicated sales representatives. Service representatives provide same- or next-day service to customers to eliminate down time and keep our customers as productive as possible. Service representatives inventory over 700 commonly needed parts on their mobile service vans to aid in this effort. Sales representatives have mobile demo trucks with a wide array of equipment on board, so that customers can actually see the equipment in their shop, and use it repeatedly to determine if it a business fit before investing.

"Hunter’s quality assurance team inspects 100% of products before they go out the door – Hunter does not 'spot check' random samples for quality assurance! Hunter also has over 40 Regional Training Centers in the United States and Canada, where our customers can go for continued education in such areas as wheel alignment or wheel balancing , all taught by Hunter’s ASE-certified instructors. As you can see, Hunter is absolutely committed to providing customers with not only the highest-quality product, but also continued support in any way the customer needs it- whether it be service, training, marketing assistance, etc."

There are two other finalists for the Manufacturer of the Year award. They are Aeromotive Inc., a fuel systems manufacturer, and Edelbrock LLC, a specialty performance automotive and motorcycle aftermarket parts manufacturer.

The winner will be named during the SEMA Industry Awards Banquet, Thursday, Nov. 2.

Hunter has exhibited at SEMA for more than 20 years. The company sends more than 100 staff members to the show each year, including its entire regional management and executive team. This year, Hunter will display its products and engage visitors in booth #41013, which occupies more than 7,000 square feet. The company produces several new products each year and is awarded an average of seven to ten patents annually.
