MTD Columnist Wayne Williams Has Died

July 23, 2018

Wayne Williams, president of Wayne Williams Marketing and Counter Intelligence columnist for Modern Tire Dealer, has died.

He was born in 1956 and died Thursday, July 19, 2018, leaving his wife, Tia, three children and many relatives and countless friends.

Wayne WIlliams Marketing is a marketing and branding company with emphasis on retail "counter intelligence." His first monthly column on what it takes to be successful at the retail sales counter appeared in the May 2010 issue of Modern Tire Dealer.

"All of us have lost a true friend, and the tire dealer community has lost a giant," says Greg Smith, publisher of MTD. "Wayne had such a passion for helping tire dealers. It was something I could feel every time I talked with him."

Services will be held Saturday, July 28, at 10 a.m. at the Whittier Warehouse, 10925 Valley Home Ave., Whittier, CA 90603.

The family is encouraging everyone to wear black as a tribute to Wayne (because that's all he wore).

More details will be posted as they become available.
