How hot are mud-terrain tires? So hot that Yokohama Tire Corp. is adding another MT tire to its lineup. The Geolandar X-MT will be the second MT tire addition to the Geolandar family in a year. The Geolandar X-MT will be available July 1 with an initial lineup of 10 sizes, for 17-inch to 20-inch rim diameters with outside diameters up to 40 inches.
“For an extreme off-road tire with tenacious grip and killer looks, the Geolandar X-MT also offers outstanding treadwear and on-road handling to provide consumers – from rock-crawlers to truck enthusiasts – with an exceptional balance of performance and value,” says Fardad Niknam, senior director of consumer product planning and product marketing for Yokohama.
Here are the highlights:
- The X-MT’s tread blocks are optimized to provide extreme off-road traction, crawling and self-cleaning capabilities. The deep tread on the shoulders and sidewalls provide the look of a tough tire, but Yokohama says they also protect the sidewall and assist in crawling through the toughest terrain.
- Yokohama’s new high-density triple polymer compound is specially formulated to provide longtime wear and off-road traction while resisting cuts and chips that can shorten the life of other tires.
- The Geolandar X-MT is durable. Yokohama’s new Geo-Shield construction features a full nylon cover, three-ply construction and extra-thick sidewall protection for any off-road terrain.
- The tire's tread design provides quiet comfort. The tread is optimized to reduce pattern noise for a quieter, more comfortable ride.
