Maxxis Sponsors Future Tire Contest for College Students

April 19, 2018

Maxxis International is sponsoring the Future Tire category of an innovation contest open to any undergraduate or graduate student in the U.S. The company wants to encourage promising science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) students to consider entering the tire industry.

The Future Tires contest is part of the Monte Jade Innovation Competition (MJIC). It's one of two categories that feature prizes. The first-place winner in Future Tires receives $2,500; two second-place winners will get $1,500 each; and as many as five third-place winners will receive $500 each. Winners also are eligible for internships or mentoring from tire engineering professionals, Maxxis says.

Entries are judged on criteria including creativity, feasibility, and marketability.

All entrants must be student members of Monte Jade Southeastern, the organization conducting the competition, but eligible students may join the group through its website, www.montejadese.org

MJIC is open to undergraduate and graduate students at any college or university in the United States. Entries will be accepted from individuals and/or from teams of up to three members.

Maxxis will host a workshop to familiarize applicants with the innovation process on May 12 at the Maxxis Technology Center in Suwanee, Ga.

Applications and project proposals to enter the contest will be accepted through May 31, with designs or prototypes and supporting information accepted Aug. 1-31. Winners will be announced Oct. 26, with an award ceremony to follow on Nov. 10.

Additional rules and conditions apply. For more information, visit www.montejadese.org/#mjic, or email [email protected].
